The festival attracted
32 artisans from seven silk villages throughout the country such as Van
Phuc, Phung Xa, Ma Chau, Tan Chau and Cham My Nghiep. Artisans performed
the different stages in producing a silk product such as raising
silkworms and silk weaving.
A showcase on 500
outstanding silk products of seven Vietnamese silk villages and other
silk products in Asian countries namely Thailand, the Philippines,
Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan is being held during the event.
There will be also
exhibitions around the history of sericulture (silk farming), silk
weaving, handicrafts, and the unique silk cultures, food and traditions
of the region.
A number of silk fashion shows will also take to the stage spotlighting silk Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional dress).
During the festival,
Vietnamese silk artisans will have an opportunity to exchange with
representatives from the Kyoto Garment and Textile Technology
Association from Japan to introduce Japanese traditional silk weaving.
